Healthy Bones, Teeth & Skin

Prior I have written a blog post about my daily multivitamin ad on I take, the Lifepak+ which comes in such a great small daily package of 4 pills I take on a daily basis but I actually add more to that with a little extra vitamin D.

I come from the cold and gray nordic country Denmark where we hardly see the Sun and many people have insufficient vitamin D levels due to that, so for many years my mom told me it was important to take this little pill daily for overall health in bones and teeth. For many years I didn’t really listen to what my mom was advising me to do until I started to look into it and read many health documents. I guess it also have to due with the fact that I am so bad at taking pills, I still can’t swallow them and have to take them with food. So, when I saw that vitamin D also comes in chewable tablets I thought, why not, this is perfect for me and I have now been taking them for years.

While reading my way through the articles on why vitamin D is so important, I also learned it’s not just for healthy bones and teeth but for skin and the immune system to work properly. This vitamin really brings in balance of several important factors in the body’s overall health and function. This vitamin D3 product is a fat soluble vitamin which is the same as the one the body produces by itself when exposed to sunlight. I have been able to see a difference in my skin because normally during Summer when tanning it fades off and the fine tan line goes away. But not for me any longer, my fan lines stay on year round since I started taking the vitamin D3 – of course, the color of the tan line is reduced but its still visible. One time I was at the doctor for a yearly check up, my doctor asked me if I had a nice vacation. I started laughing because I had not been on any vacation for a while nor tanning at all. My doctor was so surprised and said my skin holds the color better even though I have really light skin. I never experienced this before taking vitamin D3, so it’s nice to actually see and feel the difference.

Another aspect for me to take this vitamin D3 is for bone strength because unfortunately we have the bone decease osteoporosis in my family. It’s a bone decease that weakens the bone and makes is fragile and the aging you can have or develop problems. Another reason why my mom has said it’s important for me to make sure I am preventing this as much as possible. This motivates me even more to make sure I am giving me body and bones all the daily needed vitamins and minerals to stay healthy and prevent any damages in the future.

This specific vitamin D3 from Solgar I like very much because it’s also suited for vegetarians and its gluten, wheat, dairy and soya free as well. It has a sweet taste of strawberry and banana and almost melts the minute you take it. Of course I also want to mention that taking any vitamin or mineral supplements should also be combined with a healthy and nutritious diet. It can never be taken instead of a varied balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. It’s just an extra add on to help the body’s overall health.
